Treatment Protocol
’Lyme disease affects the body in a multitude of ways and must be treated case by case using methodology grounded in both western and eastern practice. Dr. Renz and his dedicated team offer cutting edge treatment options to combat Lyme disease and other associated conditions, offering a holistic combination of both traditional and integrative approaches to support your path to recovery.’
Through combining innovative pharmacological treatments and technologies alongside immune-boosting therapies and naturopathic medicine, Dr. Renz clinics strive to provide Lyme treatment options which are not easily accessible in many other parts of the world.
The pharmacological piece of the Lyme protocol is centered around utilizing IPT (Insulin Potentiation Therapy) to enhance the efficiency of the delivery of specific IV antibiotics used to target the Lyme bacterium. This process is also supported holistic therapies, to combat the detrimental effects of the infection and to provide a lasting solution.
Dr. Renz had been utilizing Insulin Potentiated Therapy (IPT) to successfully treat solid tumors in his cancer patients for many years. As IPT also had application potential for other conditions, he began to assess how this protocol could be further developed to establish a comprehensive treatment plan for other chronic diseases affecting his patients including Lyme Disease.
Patients are assessed on a case-by-case basis and their treatment modalities are specifically tailored to their individual needs. Past results are not indicative of future results.
A brief overview of Insulin Potentiated Therapy (IPT):
Insulin potentiation therapy was first developed in Mexico by Dr. Donato Perez Garcia, Sr. in 1932. Through research, he realized insulin had special properties that could treat certain diseases and chronic infections. Dr Donato Perez Garcia theorized that insulin could improve the cellular uptake of other medications given, since insulin was already known at that time to be required for the uptake of sugar. It is also believed that insulin and glucose given in conjunction with certain medications better target the treatment to the affected cells, rather than the healthy cells.
Dr Renz began offering Insulin Potentiated Therapy (IPT) to treat solid tumors in cancer patients with success for years. As IPT also has application potential for other conditions, Dr Renz began to assess how this protocol could be further developed to establish a treatment plan for other chronic diseases, including Lyme Disease.
It’s been determined that when a patient is induced to a hypoglycemic state within a predetermined blood glucose range, bacterial or viral infections can be targeted for significant reduction/ hopefully eradication. The mechanism utilizing insulin causes the membranes of cells to become more permeable, to allow for energy (glucose) in, the permeability is critical for getting the pharmaceutically effective compounds to the areas where the pathogens are aggregated.
The standard Borrelia protocol is centered around IPT in conjunction with IV antibiotics. Suitability and individual specifics for this protocol are assessed prior to admission.
Treatments are typically individualized to optimize potential success rates and results are not guaranteed.
